Even though my husband protected me and provided a home, I could feel the loneliness of those who were searching for a place all by themselves. That feeling is why I do what I do today.

My advice for living in a quiet Japanese neighborhood is simple: Be respectful and follow local customs outside, but keep your warm culture alive inside your home. You don't have to give up your identity to fit in. Your joy is what makes your house a "home."
