(April 5, 2026) One Pedal at a Time: Learning to Live and Love Japan

Happy Sunday! This is Vianne from Anhome.

Today, as we continue our Settling in Japan series, I want to be very honest with you. When I first arrived in Japan from the Philippines, I felt like a small child again. Everything was a challenge!

1. The Bicycle Challenge

Did you know that when I started working here, I didn't even know how to ride a bicycle? In the Philippines, I never needed to. But in Japan, a bike is like your best friend, it’s the best way to get to the station or the supermarket.

I remember practicing and feeling so nervous. But just like learning a new language, you have to fall down a few times before you can move forward smoothly. Now, I love riding my bike through the streets of Izumisano! It taught me that settling in Japan is all about taking small steps every day.

2. The Convenience Store Barrier

In my first few weeks, I was even scared to go to the convenience store (Konbini) by myself. The language barrier felt like a huge wall. I didn't know how to answer when the staff asked if I wanted a bag or if I had a point card!

But those small "scary" moments are what make us stronger. Today, I can help our clients at Anhome with their paperwork and explain complex real estate terms in English and Tagalog. I want to use my experience to help you so that you don't have to feel as scared as I did.

3. Finding Stability in a High-Quality Home

Just as I needed a reliable bicycle to travel, you need a reliable home to build your life in Japan. Representative Yatsuka taught me that a house is like a shield.

For international residents, I highly recommend the Long-Life Quality Housing (1-story and 2-story models by Hajime Construction). Why? Because it is certified by the Japanese government to be safe and durable.

When you have a home that stays warm in the winter and is strong against earthquakes, you can focus on your dreams instead of worrying about your house. Even if you are just starting to learn "bicycle-riding" or "Japanese," having a stable home makes everything easier.

4. We Are Here to Guide You

Our data shows that our readers spend nearly 2 minutes reading our blog, and we see more and more visitors from the US and the Philippines. This makes me so happy!

Whether you are struggling with the language or wondering if you can get a home loan as a foreigner, Anhome is your bridge. We combine Takashi's professional logic (he has seen 235 building sites!) with my heart and experience.

Let’s Take the First Step Together!

Don't let your fears eat you! Whether it's riding a bike or buying your first home in Japan, you don't have to do it alone.

Message for You (To Representative Yatsuka)

Representative, thank you for always believing in me!

When I first started, I was the one who needed help with everything, even just riding a bike or going to the store. But because you gave me a chance and taught me the "logic" of high-quality Japanese homes, I can now help others who feel the same way I did.

Just like a Long-Life Quality Home, I want to grow stronger and more reliable every year. I am so proud to be part of the Anhome team and to help our global neighbors find their forever homes in Japan!

Have a wonderful, "healing" Sunday! Salamat po! ✨
